Jeffrey Stocker

Jeffrey Stocker is a renowned professional acting coach and a accomplished director since opening his own acting studio in New York City from 1978-2009. His clients can be seen today performing on the Broadway Stage to Television and Motion Pictures.

The client list of actors he is proud to have coached over the years have included Anne Nathan, Crista Moore, Christopher Innvar, Sean McDermott, Aiko Nakasome, and members from the ensemble casts of “Mama Mia”, “Grease”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Chicago”. “Ragtime’. “Les Miserables” and “West Side Story” just to name a few.

Jeffrey Stocker has directed Francis Sternhagen, Joan Copeland, Cliff Robertson, and Tammy Grimes in numerous readings at the National Arts Club in New York City where is serves as a Board of Governor and Chair of the Theatre Drama Committee.

Jeffrey Stocker has coached young professional children actors to adults and is highly recommended by leading NY and LA Talent Agents and Casting Directors. He is currently coaching the talented Rory Caulkin on his auditions and roles in such films as the upcoming feature “12″ directed by Joel Schumacher.

As one of today’s leading acting coaches for both stage and film he teaches an original audition “cold-reading” technique with the use of video equipment.

Jeffrey Stocker is the Founder and Director of the American Readers Theatre a 501(3)c not for profit arts organization which promotes literacy located in New York, Pennsylvania , and Oregon.

As a professional director he has directed over 100 stage productions and readings in NYC at the National Arts Club, Players Club, Princeton Club, and City College of NY. He has collaborated with award-winning playwrights Edward Albee and Christopher Durang.

Jeffrey Stocker has been award grants from the NEA for the BIG READ, Christopher D. Smither’s Foundation for the creation of the Theatre Workshop- teen alcohol awareness program, and the Noel Coward Foundation .

Jeffrey Stocker has been on the teaching faculty of the Joffrey Ballet School in NYC, the Portland Festival Ballet Studio in Portland, Oregon and the Magnus Midwest Summer Dance Intensive in Flint Michigan where he has created a highly successful acting program called ACTING FOR THE DANCER.

Jeffrey Stocker is the current Artistic Director for the Presby Players in Port Jervis, New York and continues to direct readings and full productions throughout the country.

Since his arrival to Portland he has directed for the Portland Civic Theatre Guild and has been invited to teach Master Classes at the Portland Center Stage.
